Officials of Russian and Israeli embassies in Baku have appealed to relevant bodies of Azerbaijan for another meeting with blogger Alexander Lapshin, who is under arrest in Baku.

Lapshin’s lawyer Eduard Chernin told Trend on March 2 that officials of the Russian Embassy in Baku met Lapshin once and representatives of the Israeli Embassy met the blogger twice since his extradition from Belarus.

"The allegations that representatives of the embassies cannot meet Lapshin are unfounded," the lawyer noted.

Chernin further said that in accordance with the rules of organizing meetings, one should appeal to the relevant official bodies in order to meet Lapshin. After receiving the response to the appeal, the time for the meeting is appointed.

The lawyer reiterated that Lapshin has no complaints regarding detention conditions and he can meet with his family members.

“Armenian media reported that allegedly Lapshin’s spouse couldn’t talk to him and received no information about him,” Chernin said. “I told this to Alexander Lapshin, told him what his wife Yekaterina said, and then got in touch with her. She said she wanted to come to Baku to meet her husband.”

The lawyer also said that Lapshin’s mother Bella is in Baku, and she can see her son anytime she wants.

"I also constantly meet with my client. Lapshin has repeatedly said that there is no problem, did not complain on conditions of his detention and meetings with him," said Chernin.

Lapshin will stand trial in Baku for his illegal visits to the occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan.

The blogger, who owns citizenships of several countries, paid a number of visits to Azerbaijan`s occupied lands, where he voiced support for "independence" of the illegal regime, and made public calls against Azerbaijan`s internationally recognized territorial integrity.  The blogger was arrested in Belarus and later was extradited from Minsk to Baku.
