Azerbaijani president congratulates Afghan counterpart

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev congratulated Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on the occasion of the national holiday.

"On my behalf and on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you and the people of your country on the occasion of the public holiday of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan - Independence Day," Ilham Aliyev's message says.

"I hope that traditional friendship and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Afghanistan will further develop and expand in the interests of our people," according to the letter. "On this momentous day I wish you good health, success in your work, and the friendly people of Afghanistan peace and prosperity."
