By AzerNewsThe Caspian Forum 2013, organized by the Caspian Strategy Institute (HASEN), will be held in New York on September 25.
The forum will bring together representatives from various international organizations, financial institutions, think-tanks and universities. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, his Turkish, Georgian and Italian counterparts, Ahmet Davutoglu, Maia Panjikidze and Emma Bonino, as well as the EU commissioner for energy, Gunther Oettinger, will be attending the event.
The Southern Gas Corridor, which includes the planned Tanap and TAP pipeline projects, will top the agenda of the forum. The participants will also exchange ideas on European energy security.
The Tanap project, being developed by Azerbaijan's state oil company Socar jointly with the Turkish state pipeline company Botas and energy company TPAO, will deliver Shah Deniz gas to the Turkish-Greek border from eastern Turkey. The initial capacity of the pipeline will be 16 billion cubic meters of gas a year.
Tanap will link up with the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) on the Turkish-Greek border.
The BP-led Shah Deniz consortium will export 10 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe via the Southern Gas Corridor a year starting in 2019.
