President Ilham Aliyev held number of official meetings - UPDATE -PHOTOS

President of Azerbaijan has today accepted credentials of new ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Irfan Siddiq.

The diplomat passed along a ceremonial guard of honor.

The Azerbaijani President had a conversation with the diplomat.

The Head of State noted bilateral ties between Azerbaijan and UK were developing dynamically.

President Ilham Aliyev said the Azerbaijan-UK relations had been rapidly developing in a variety of fields in recent years, including in the fields of politics, economy, and energy.

The Azerbaijani leader recalled his visits to London, and the last year`s meeting with British PM David Cameron.

The President noted the importance of the fact that “the UK is one of the main partners of Azerbaijan in the European Union”.

The Head of State said the UK was one of main investors in Azerbaijan, hailing the activities of British companies in the country as successful.

The ambassador noted bilateral relations between the two countries were rapidly developing.

He said there was mutual interest to expand the bilateral relationship on various fronts, including in the field of economy, adding he would spare no efforts to contribute to this.

The Head of State expressed confidence that bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Sudan would develop successfully.

President Ilham Aliyev hailed political ties between the two countries.

The President said there were good opportunities for development of the Azerbaijan-Sudan cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, agriculture, and education.

The Head of State noted that the two countries were actively cooperating within international organizations, including the UN, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, stressing the importance of boosting this cooperation even further.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed hope that the ambassador would spare no efforts to contribute to strengthening the bilateral ties.

The ambassador conveyed greetings of Sudanese President Omar Hassan Ahmad Al-Bashir to the Head of State.

Mohammad Elias Mohammad al-Haq said Sudan attached great importance to expansion of relations with Azerbaijan.

The ambassador expressed confidence that he would spare no efforts to contribute to strengthening the Azerbaijani-Sudanese relationship during his tenure.

The Azerbaijani leader asked the diplomat to pass on his greetings to the Sudanese President.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Special Committee`s pre-election mission for monitoring of presidential election in Azerbaijan led by Robert Walter.

During the meeting, they discussed prospects for the Azerbaijan-EU cooperation, preparatory work for presidential election in Azerbaijan, and the issues related to pre-election campaign.
