
A number of issues pertaining to strengthening U.S.-Azerbaijani relations, especially in the spheres of energy and counter-terrorism, were broadly discussed during the meeting of an Azerbaijani delegation and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas on July 16, AzerTag state news agency reported.
The delegation comprised of Chairman of the U.S.-Azerbaijani Interparliamentary Relations Committee Samad Seyidov, MPs Sevinj Fataliyeva and Asim Mollazade, who are in the United States visiting the members of the Congressional Azerbaijan Caucus.
At the meeting, Jackson Lee underscored the importance of U.S.-Azerbaijani partnership which secures the regional stability and reiterated significance of the strategic alliance between the two countries.
She said that the leadership that Azerbaijan has taken to provide the energy security of Europe by realization of Southern Corridor project will be further strengthened and the United States will provide its utmost support to Azerbaijan and other participating countries in this effort.
Jackson Lee highlighted specialties of the State of Texas with Azerbaijan, and discussed strengthening of partnership between the sister cities of Houston and Baku with Irada Akhundova, the President of Houston-Baku Sister Cities Association (HBSCA).
