Azerbaijani President attends inauguration of several facilities in Shirvan region - UPDATE - PHOTOS

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has visited the Flag Square as part of his visit to Shirvan.

The President was informed that the flag flies on a 76 meter high pole. The square occupies a total area of 1.3 hectares.

President Ilham Aliyev praised the work carried out in the Flag Square.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today officially inaugurated Shirvan Olympic Sport Complex.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the facility took place in 2010.

Youth and Sport Minister Azad Rahimov told the Head of State that the total area of the complex was 4.5 hectares.

The complex will feature a 44-bed hotel.

The Head of State was informed of the projects to repair and reconstruct Olympic Movement Museum and Hand-played Games Palace.

The complex has an auditorium and offices. It has a 980-seat gym for football, volleyball and basketball competitions, as well as a pool. It also has a 1020-seat football stadium, and mini-football and basketball grounds.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has attended a ceremony to start water supply to the city of Shirvan from Shirvan-Mughan group water channel.

More than 15,000 people are now receiving water on a round-the-clock basis via Shirvan-Mughan group water channel. Once construction of the domestic network is completed the number of people supplied with water will reach 35,000.

The President met constructors of the channel here, and instructed them to carry out the work in line with modern standards.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today officially inaugurated Canub Power Station in Shirvan.

The foundation stone for the facility was laid in 2007. The station occupies a total area of 20 hectares. It will employ 215 people.

The 780 megawatt facility will make an outstanding contribution to ensuring energy security of the country.

The Head of State viewed Pump Station, and the control center.

After viewing the facility the President met representatives of the general public.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today arrived in the country`s Shirvan city.
The Head of State started his visit by laying flowers at a monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev in the city centre.

Head of the Shirvan City Executive Authorities Mardan Jamalov informed the Azerbaijani President about what had been done in the Shirvan district.
