
A gathering on the 90th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev has been held in Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The event brought together rectors of universities of Quaid-i-Azam, Preston and National University of Modern Languages, director of National Library, editors-in-chief of “Diplomatic Insight”, “Diplomatic Star” and “Centreline” magazines, “Daily Times”, “Pakistan Observer” and
“The News” newspapers, public and political figures.
Head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Zafar Bakhtawari spoke at the event about Heydar Aliyev`s contributions to economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan. He noted that a number of documents on bilateral economic cooperation were signed between the two countries thanks to national leader Heydar Aliyev. According to Bakhtawari, as a result of Heydar Aliyev`s oil strategy and economic reforms carried out under his leadership Azerbaijan became one of the most rapidly developing countries in the world.
Azerbaijani ambassador Dashqin Shikarov spoke of Heydar Aliyev`s role in development of Azerbaijan-Pakistan relationship. He pointed out national leader Heydar Aliyev`s meetings with Pakistani President in 1995 and Prime Minister in 1996 was important in terms of expansion of relationship between the two countries. The ambassador said Heydar Aliyev`s political course was successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.
Rector of Preston University Abdul Basit, secretary general of Chamber of Commerce and Industry Macid Shabir praised Heydar Aliyev`s contributions to boosting Azerbaijan-Pakistan relationship.
The event participants were handed “Heydar Aliyev-National leader of Azerbaijan” book.
