President Ilham Aliyev lays foundation stone for Water Sports Palace in Baku - PHOTOS

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today laid the foundation stone for Water Sports Palace in Baku.

Youth and Sport Minister Azad Rahimov informed the Head of State of technical indicators of the project, which was designed by Korean Securo CO.LTD company.

The President was told that the palace would occupy a total area of 45,929 square meters. The facility will be 35.2 meters in height. It will handle up to more than 6,000 spectators.

The magnitude 9 quake-resistant palace will be built in compliance with standards of the International Swimming Federation.

President Ilham Aliyev spoke with foreign specialists, who will be involved in construction, and stressed the importance of carrying out the work to highest international standards.
