Azerbaijan keen on open and transparent co-op - State Council

Azerbaijan is an open and democratic country and has always been interested in international cooperation, as well as in the study and application of the experience of the advanced countries of the world, Chairman of the Council of State Support to NGOs under the Azerbaijani President Azay Guliyev said on Wednesday.

In building civil society, Guliyev went on saying, Azerbaijan is ready to take advantage of the international partners' recourses along with those of the local supporters, and this is the evidence of the political will of the state.

According to him, international organizations and foreign NGOs in their activities in Azerbaijan must obey the Constitution and laws of the country and should not act against the interests of the country or realize any secret programs.

"These cases undermine the credibility of international cooperation, and we try to avoid them. On the one hand, we want an open and transparent cooperation, on the other side we want these activities to be carried out in the framework of the laws of Azerbaijan," Guliyev said.

Azerbaijan has a major program in the field of youth policy; it receives assets, thanks to which thousands of young people study abroad, he added.
