Leyla Aliyeva: 'Tolerance and friendliness is a way of life for us'- PHOTOS

Representative of MGIMO Alumni Association in Azerbaijan Leyla Aliyeva made a speech at the second session of the first international forum of Moscow State Institute of International Relations Alumni in Baku.

Addressing the session on “Energy and environmental parameters of the global economy towards sustainable development,” Leyla Aliyeva said that she is very pleased that the first international forum of Moscow State Institute of International Relations Alumni is being held in Azerbaijan: “Our country has been always distinguished by its hospitality and Azerbaijan, which is situated at the crossroads of East and West, has united different cultures, traditions and civilizations. Tolerance and friendliness is not just a word for us, it is a way of life for us.”

Leyla Aliyeva said that urgent issues were discussed at the forum: “Everything is interdependent and the global economy is closely linked to environmental problems. Today, it is easy to speak about the environmental protection. IDEA international environmental campaign was launched on the initiative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation two years ago. At present, this campaign is the most active campaign on the environmental protection in the region.”

Leyla Aliyeva said the protection of endangered species is the top priority of IDEA campaign.
 “Caucasian bison, one of the rarest species, has been spotted in Azerbaijan recently. IDEA is working towards the protection of this animal. We call on the youth from various countries to join us, support our projects and share their plans with us. IDEA is a young organization, on the global level it is probably a drop in the ocean, but we think that everyone should contribute to our planet,” she said.

Leyla Aliyeva informed the participants about Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia, which is chaired by her and covers culture, education, health, sports and science.
