Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian who was here to participate in the fifth World Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations gave an interview to the Austrian Press Agency. He voiced groundless accusations against Azerbaijan and Turkey.
The article was available only on paid basis and not published in none off Austrian print media while Armenian media outlets widely covered it. No doubt, Armenian "translators" translated the interview with considerable distortions and some kind of "creativity".
Azerbaijani ambassador to Austria Galib Israfilov responded to this interview with an open letter available free of charge in German and English.
The ambassador expressed regret that the Armenian Minister did not use the opportunity provided by the Vienna Forum of Alliance of Civilizations for continuing a search for peace with Azerbaijan and Turkey, but instead opted for putting forward unfounded allegations against your neighbors to justify Armenia`s expansionist claims.
The diplomat said that without a dialogue and peace with Azerbaijan and Turkey, the constantly increasing gap between self-isolated Armenia and most of the dynamically developing region in few years would bring catastrophic consequences to already shrinking population of Armenia.
"The Azerbaijani and Armenian communities of Nagorno-Karabakh region of the Republic of Azerbaijan continue to be primarily affected by the conflict and they need to see each other, restore mutual contacts and re-establish their relations. I encourage you to help these communities return to normal live and define their common future in the Nagorno-Karabakh region," the letter says.
The ambassador expressed hope that this letter clarified where Azerbaijan stands in terms of resolution of the conflict with Armenia and what would be the benefits if Azerbaijan`s constructive and forthcoming approach is seriously taken by the leadership of Armenia.
