
Famous French composer Pierre Thilloy has created a classical work named “Khojaly 613” which is dedicated to the Khojaly tragedy.
The work composed at the request of the European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS) receives its premiere on 21 February at Saint Roch in Paris, and then the concert is repeated on 26 February at St John’s Smith Square in London. The Orion Orchestra will be conducted by Laurent Petigirard.
Pierre Thilloy lived and worked in Azerbaijan. The new work by Thilloy combines western classical and Azerbaijani musical traditions.
*****The European parliament will host a commemorative event on Khojaly tragedy organized by the European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS) next Tuesday.
According to the TEAS, the event will bring together MPs of the European Parliament, experts on the region, representatives of think-tanks, as well as journalists.
The event will feature discussions on the Khojaly tragedy and the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The event participants will stress the importance of the resolutions recognizing the Khojaly tragedy as a crime against humanity, which had been adopted by the EU member states - the Czech Republic and Romania.
*****The Turkish Radio and Television Corporation`s (TRT) 4 channels will broadcast a documentary on the Khojaly tragedy.
According to the TRT`s Baku office, the documentary “Killed hopes” will be aired in TRT Haber, TRT Turk, TRT Avaz and TRT Anadolu channels.
Turkish embassy to Azerbaijan will also host a commemorative event on the Khojaly tragedy on Friday.
*****Azerbaijani MPs Ganira Pashayeva and Rovshan Rzayev have today visited Germany`s capital to participate in the commemorative events on the 21st anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.
According to the Milli Majlis, the German Parliamentary Society will host a symposium on “Security and stability in the South Caucasus and prospects of the Germany-Azerbaijan relations” organized by the German-Azerbaijan forum.
The Coordination Center for Azerbaijanis in Germany (KAD) and the Turkish-Azerbaijani Union will arrange commemorative events in Berlin, Frankfurt, Koln, Hamburg and Hannover.
“Azerbaijan House” Society and German-Azerbaijani Solidarity Society will hold protest rallies in Berlin and Bielefeld. Azerbaijani students in Germany will distribute information on the Khojaly massacre to the country`s political, scientific and cultural bodies.
Azerbaijani MPs will meet the author of the book “Khojaly” Rolf Kunsch.
*****Azerbaijani MP Jala Aliyeva will pay a visit to Turkey on February 22-27 to participate in an international conference on “Occupation of Karabakh and Khojaly Genocide” organized by the Azerbaijan`s embassy and Yalova municipality.
She will also attend a meeting on the 20th anniversary of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation.
Another Azeri MP Aydin Mirzazade will also visit Turkey to participate in the commemorative events on Khojaly tragedy.
