President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today met Vice-Chairman and President of GDF SUEZ Jean-François Cirelli in Davos.

During the meeting, they praised cooperation between GDF SUEZ and Azerbaijan.

President Ilham Aliyev and Jean-François Cirelli discussed the issues of cooperation in ensuring the supply of quality drinking water to the Azerbaijani population and improving the sewerage system in the country.

They also exchanged views on exploration of Absheron gas field, purchase and transportation of gas from Shahdaniz field.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today met Jean Loic Galle, President and CEO of Thales Alenia Space, in Davos.

They said the government of Azerbaijan always attached special significance to developing information and communication technologies in the country.

They discussed the issues concerning the launch of Azerbaijan`s second telecommunication and Earth-observation satellite into orbit.

President Ilham Aliyev and Jean Loic Galle also exchanged views on establishment of space industry in Azerbaijan, and preparation of its long-term development strategy.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today met President of Microsoft International Jean-Philippe Courtois in Davos.

During the meeting, they noted cooperative relations between Microsoft International and Azerbaijan were successfully developing.

President Ilham Aliyev and Jean-Philippe Courtois stressed the importance of the services offered by Microsoft International in connection with the implementation of e-government project in Azerbaijan.

They also discussed issues related to information security, the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between the country and the organization in the future and establishment of Microsoft`s information center in Azerbaijan.

Leonid Kuchma recalled his meetings with national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev. He stressed the importance of reciprocal visits, particularly meetings with President Ilham Aliyev.

They praised the Azerbaijan-Ukraine relations, expressing confidence that friendly ties between the two nations will further develop.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has met president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Suma Chakrabarti in Davos.

They praised long-term fruitful cooperation between Azerbaijan and EBRD, and discussed prospects for developing the bilateral relations.

President Ilham Aliyev and the EBRD chief discussed cooperation between the country and the organization in a number of fields, including energy, non-energy sector, ICT, industry, agriculture, and tourism.

Azerbaijan`s attaching special importance to developing the social infrastructure was stressed at the meeting.

The EBRD president said the Bank placed a particular emphasis on its cooperation with Azerbaijan. Suma Chakrabarti said he intended to pay a visit to the country.

In the frame of World Economic Forum in Davos, a session of the oil-gas executives was today held here.

President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan joined the event.

At the event with participation of renowned world oil-gas specialists, the President of Azerbaijan spoke of cyber security in the oil sector and on ensuring security, in general.

Noting Azerbaijan’s achievements in this field, President Aliyev spoke of Azerbaijan’s long-year participation in the global energy projects. At his words, in Azerbaijan, security issues have been established at high level, and the country has no any problem in this field.

Saying that Azerbaijan plays special role in regional energy security system, the President updated the participants on the steps to undertake in the years to come and as a whole, on the actions to be realized in this field.

 President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today met President of Switzerland Ueli Maurer.

The two presidents praised the relations between their countries. They stressed prospects for developing the bilateral relations in different areas, particularly in the energy sector.

The presidents also discussed the peace talks over the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The Swiss President congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on Azerbaijan`s economic achievements.

The World Economic Forum`s session on “A New Dawn for Central Asia” has been held yesterday in Davos.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev participated in the session.

The Azerbaijani leader addressed the event, which brought together officials of several countries, representatives of international organizations. The President spoke of the ongoing economic development processes in Azerbaijan. The Head of State noted Azerbaijan`s economy was developing dynamically, adding growth domestic product increased by 3 times.

President Ilham Aliyev also spoke of Azerbaijan`s accomplishments in energy sphere. The Head of State also added development of non-oil sector was in the focus in Azerbaijan and many projects were being implemented in this sphere.

Touching upon diversification of Azerbaijan`s economy, President Ilham Aliyev spoke of the participation of his country in global economic and energy projects.

The Head of State also told on regional cooperation and other issues. Then the Azerbaijani President answered questions.

During the meeting, they praised long-term cooperation between Azerbaijan and Total. They stressed successful cooperation in implementation of Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli and Shahdeniz projects.

The sides noted bilateral cooperation would also contribute to development of Azerbaijan-France economic relations.

They also exchanged views on prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Total.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today met CEO of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Jin-Yong Cai in Davos.

During the meeting, they praised cooperation between Azerbaijan and the International Finance Corporation. They hailed participation of the International Finance Corporation in implementing projects in Azerbaijan as an investor.

They also spoke of the work being done for diversifying Azerbaijan`s economy. Jin-Yong Cai noted that the International Finance Corporation was interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in the fields of agriculture, information and communication technologies.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that relations between Azerbaijan and the IFC would continue to develop.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has today met Dominic Barton, Managing Director of McKinsey&Company, a global management consulting firm, in Davos.

Dominic Barton said McKinsey&Company was interested in implementing large-scale ICT projects in Azerbaijan. He said favorable conditions created in Azerbaijan for development of information and communication technologies had been attracting foreign investors to the country.

President Ilham Aliyev stressed the role of science and education in expanding the application of information and communication technologies, adding Azerbaijan has increased attention to this issue.

Bernard Fontana recalled the Azerbaijani President`s participation in the opening of a cement factory of Holcim Group in Baku last year. He hailed business environment in Azerbaijan as favorable.

President Ilham Aliyev stressed the importance of Holcim Group`s investment in Azerbaijan. The Head of State said Azerbaijan`s cooperation with the company was contributing to the country`s relations with Switzerland.

They discussed prospects for developing business relations between Azerbaijan and Switzerland.

The Booz&CO CEO praised the Azerbaijani government`s support of development of information and communication technologies in the country. He stressed the importance of Azerbaijan`s broadband Internet strategy and projects to create high-tech parks, and praised the fact that work had already began on this front.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today left for Switzerland to participate in the annual meeting of World Economic Forum in Davos.

At the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, the Head of State was seen off by Prime Minister Arthur Rasizade, head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev and Baku Mayor Hajibala Abutalibov.
