UN GA adopts resolution on TASIM initiated by Azerbaijan

UN General Assembly unanimously adopted resolution “Expanding access to internet through creation of Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway”, initiated by Azerbaijan Government.
The resolution proposed by Azerbaijan which will assist realization of TASIM project, endorses elimination of "digital inequality" in the Eurasian region, boosting cooperation ties between private and public sectors, Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan said.

Various regions have supported TASIM project while a number of UN`s influential countries such as US, Australia, Belarus, China, Afghanistan, Georgia, India, Israel, Iraq, Canada, Korean Republic, Kuwait, Lebanon, Kazakhstan, Morocco, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Russia, Sri-Lanka, Turkey Ukraine, Japan, New Zealand and other countries acted as co-authors of the resolution.

The resolution includes Azerbaijan's proposal to set up Eurasian telecommunications alliance in the aims of improvement of state, private sector and civil society ties with international development institutions, for contributing to the development of telecommunications transmission in the regions.
