Canada-Azerbaijan ties discussed

 The Parliament of Canada hosted the annual meeting of Canada-Azerbaijan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Member of Parliament for the Conservative Party Barry Devolin was re-elected as chairman of the Canada-Azerbaijan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group.

The meeting discussed the current state and prospects of development of Azerbaijani-Canadian relations in the fields of politics, economy, etc. Speaking at the event, ambassador of Azerbaijan to Canada Farid Shafiev highlighted the further development of bilateral relations, and a role of inter-parliamentary cooperation in the development of relations between the two countries.

Chairman of the Group Barry Devolin said he attaches great importance to the development of bilateral relations between Canada and Azerbaijan in various fields. The Chairman noted that Azerbaijan - as a secular state, is an important country for Canada in terms of expansion of bilateral relations.
