
As earlier reported, President of Singapore Tony Tan has hosted an official dinner in honor of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who is on a state visit in this country.
The presidents made remarks at the dinner.
Expressing pleasure with the visit of Azerbaijani President to his country, Mr. Tony Tan noted that after the diplomatic relations were established between the two countries 18 years ago, the bilateral relations received strong impulse and base on common interest and mutual respect. He, in particular, praised the relations of the two countries within the international organizations, also touching upon the latest economic accomplishments Azerbaijan gained last years. At his words, Azerbaijan has transformed to a strongly developing country with high economic growth. He wished more intensive cooperation of the national companies of the two countries.
President of Azerbaijan expressed gratitude for invitation underlining that like Azerbaijan Singapore also gives special attention to the principles of multiculturalism. President Aliyev thanked the Singaporean counterpart for support during Azerbaijan’s election as a UN Security Council member and backing Azerbaijan’s fair position in settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
President Aliyev informed about the ongoing economic processes in the country, noting existence of greater potential for further cooperation in versatile fields, including cultural and humanitarian activities.

14:46Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has today viewed National Orchid Garden as part of his state visit to Singapore.
Leong Chee Chiew, the Garden`s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, informed the Head of State of rare flowers and plants in the garden.
He said a rare orchid cultivated only in the National Orchid Garden was named after Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. Leong Chee Chiew handed the certificate of the flower to the Azerbaijani leader. The Head of State signed the guest book of National Orchid Garden.
The garden is located in the Singapore Botanic Gardens.
The Singapore Botanic Gardens is a dynamic and living monument to the foresight of the founding fathers of Singapore. Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of Singapore and a keen naturalist, established the first botanical and experimental garden on Government Hill (Fort Canning Hill) in 1822, shortly after his arrival in Singapore.
The National Orchid Garden is the main attraction within the Botanic Gardens. Located on the mid-western side of the Garden, the hilly three-hectare site has a collection of more than 1,000 species and 2,000 hybrids of orchids.
The Orchid Garden features a number of attractions, including Burkill Hall and the VIP Orchid Garden.
President Ilham Aliyev was presented with books and booklets about the Orchid Garden and flowers cultivated there.

They explored prospects for overall development of the bilateral cooperation. They discussed the issue of mutual investment between Azerbaijan and Singapore, stressing the two countries have already done certain work on this front.
State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) built business contacts in Singapore, and several Singaporean companies are operating in Azerbaijan. They exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
They also stressed the importance of reciprocal visits in terms of development of the bilateral cooperation.

They said Singapore and Azerbaijan had contacts in economic, trade and energy fields, adding, however, this fell behind the countries` potential. The sides agreed to set up a joint coordinating body in a bid to ensure the development of the bilateral cooperation.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who is in Singapore for a state visit, has today been given an official welcome at the Istana presidential residence.
The Azerbaijani President was welcomed by his Singaporean counterpart Tony Tan. A ceremonial guard of honor was lined up for the Azerbaijani President in front of the residence decorated with the national flags of the two countries.
The presidents reviewed the guard of honor as an orchestra played the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Singapore. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed the guest book of the Istana presidential residence.
Members of the Azerbaijani delegation were introduce to Singaporean leader Tony Tan, while his country`s state and government officials to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
