
Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan will hold another round of Uzbek-Azerbaijani political consultations, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said today.
According to the ministry, the consultations will be held at the level of deputy foreign ministers in Baku on September 18, 2012.
The agenda of the consultations includes discussing the issues of bilateral cooperation, exchanging the views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The presidents confirmed their intention to continue developing the relations based on the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the two countries, signed in May 1996, and the declaration on the further strengthening of the strategic partnership (March 2004) during Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's official visit to Tashkent in September 2010.
Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan were established in October 1995.
The two countries signed more than 100 documents regulating the relations between the countries in various fields, including an agreement on economic cooperation for 2011-2015, scientific and technical cooperation, cooperation in the field of environmental protection, in the area of information and communication technologies , humanitarian cooperation, information exchange in taxation, mutual protection of secret information, further intensifying the cooperation in the field of railway transport and the development of combined transportation.
