Iran,Azerbaijan mull relations

Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov met Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohammadbagir Bahrami, who ends his diplomatic mission.

Hasanov hailed the ambassador`s efforts in developing relations between the two countries. On close religious, historical and cultural relations, the Chairman said Iranian international humanitarian organization “Imam Khomeini Relief Committee” participates in the long-term projects being implemented in Azerbaijan. The organization renders humanitarian aid to 500 villages from 45 regions of the country as well as supplies about 40000 refugees with foodstuffs and medicaments. Since 1994 the organization has sent 40 million dollars to implementation of the humanitarian projects. He said other Iranian organization in the line of the Red Crescent Society sent 7 million dollars to realization of the humanitarian projects for 1993-2001s.

Bahrami said he had always aspired to strengthen and develop relations between Azerbaijan and Iran. He noted Presidents of Azerbaijan and Iran have always kept in focus the two countries` relations.

Ali Hasanov wished the ambassador success in his future activity.
