Azerbaijani President holds several meetings - UPDATE - PHOTOS

President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan yesterday received a delegation of American Jewish Committee (AJC) led by executive director David Harris.

President Aliyev expressed hope the visit of American Jewish Committee’s executive director to Azerbaijan will be useful.

Mr. David Harris expressed pleasure for visiting Azerbaijan for the second time. According to him, in the past period the capital of country has notably developed, in particular, the Heydar Aliyev Center strikes with its modern architectural style.
The talk revolved around issues of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the American Jewish Committee.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev yesterday received member of the British Parliament, former Secretary of State for Defense Liam Fox.

During the meeting, they discussed development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the Great Britain in various directions, in particular in the inter-parliamentary cooperation.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev yesterday received an Italian delegation led by Chief of Defense Staff of the Armed Forces Biagio Abrate.

The Head of State said relations between Azerbaijan and Italy were successfully developing in various fields. President Ilham Aliyev stressed the importance of reciprocal visits for expansion of bilateral relationship between the two countries.

The President expressed hope Biagio Abrate`s first visit to Azerbaijan would play important role in terms of discussions of development of bilateral cooperation in this field.

The Chief of Defense Staff of the Italian Armed Forces expressed pleasure with his visit to Azerbaijan.

He stressed the importance of joint successful cooperation of Italian servicemen and Azerbaijan`s peacekeepers within the International Peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan.

During the meeting, they also discussed the development of cooperation between the two countries` relevant bodies.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received a delegation of Turkey lead by Minister of Transport and Communication Binali Yildirim.

The sides expressed satisfaction with dynamic development of the bilateral ties between Azerbaijan and Turkey in all fields, as well as in the sectors of transport, navigation and communications, and exchanged views on the process of realization of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received a Polish delegation led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Radoslaw Sikorski.

The Head of State praised the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Poland in various directions, in particular in the political and economic fields.

President Ilham Aliyev said there were ample opportunities to develop economic cooperation between the two countries even more.

The Azerbaijani leader stressed the importance of high-level reciprocal visits for expansion of relations between Azerbaijan and Poland.

The Head of State expressed confidence the Polish FM`s visit to Azerbaijan would contribute to developing bilateral relationship even more.

Radoslaw Sikorski said the two countries enjoy good potential to develop bilateral cooperation in a variety of fields.

During the meeting, they also discussed Azerbaijan-Poland relations and  cooperation within the European Union and Eastern Partnership program.

President Ilham Aliyev today received delegation led by the President of Chamber of Deputies of the Mexican Congress Oscar Arce.

Noting successful development of relations between Azerbaijan and the United States of Mexico, President Aliyev expressed confidence for expansion of these ties in the years to come.

The head of the Azerbaijani State noted the role of inter-parliamentary ties in strengthening of relations between the two countries, underlining necessity of activation of cooperation in this field. The two countries have to seek opportunities for development of mutual trade relations, President of Azerbaijan said, stressing importance of the opening of Azerbaijan’s embassy in Mexico for the first time in the Latin American countries. According to the head of state, from this point of view, the reciprocal visits are of special importance. To this effect, the current visit of the President of Chamber of Deputies of the Mexican Congress will be useful.

President of Azerbaijan praised adoption by the Mexican Senate of a decision on recognition of Khojaly genocide and expressed gratitude. President Aliyev said the chairman of the Mexico-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary friendship group Marcos Perez Esquer was awarded with the “Honorary Diploma of the Azerbaijan President” and presented him the Diploma.

The President of Chamber of Deputies of the Mexican Congress Oscar Arce said they attach great importance to Azerbaijan as a fraternal country and are keen in development of bilateral relations in all fields, including in expansion of the inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Potential and further development of economic, cultural, education and parliamentary relations between the two countries were discussed in the meeting.
