National holiday of France celebrated in Baku

The Embassy of France in Azerbaijan gave an official reception to mark the Bastille Day – National Holiday of France. The event brought together state and government officials of Azerbaijan, representatives of the diplomatic corps in Baku, MPs.

Ambassador Pascal Monier told of history of development of his country adding great progress in economic and cultural fields has been achieved.

He hailed rapidly developing relations between the friendly countries – France and Azerbaijan. The diplomat said mutual visits, meetings and talks created favorable ground for developing bilateral relations.

On rapid development of Azerbaijan, Monier estimated election of Azerbaijan to the UN Security Council as the country`s great success. The ambassador expressed hope political and economic relations as well as cooperation in fields of culture, science and education would further widen.

Azerbaijani Minister of Finance Samir Sharifov conveyed greetings of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to the ambassador. The Head of State wished peace and prosperity to the people of France. He said relations between Azerbaijan and France bind with deep historical roots. Minister noted France is one of the important countries in formation of history and culture in Europe.

Sharifov underlined Azerbaijan attaches great importance to developing relations with France. He said great leader Heydar Aliyev and follower of his political course President Ilham Aliyev made invaluable contribution to development of these relations. Sharifov said twenty-year anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries will be celebrated this year, adding bilateral relations develop in all fields.
