German newspaper : 'Azerbaijan became a model of modernization' - PHOTOS

An article “Global player in the Caspian basin: Azerbaijan sees basis of economic growth in development of cultural relations,” dedicated to activity of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the country`s achievements was published in German`s influential newspapers “Die Welt” and “Welt kompakt”.

The article prefaced with subtitles “Economic basis speeds up cultural exchange,” “Support of foreign projects” and “Special attention to charity” includes photos reflecting foreign visits of the first lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, one of the meetings held in the kindergarten and Baku panorama.”

The article says: “Having changed over the past 20 years, Azerbaijan became a model of modernization. Azerbaijan, one of the post-soviet countries, which plays a role of bridge between Europe and Asia, turned into modern and rapidly developing energy center, the significance of which is outside the limits of the South Caucasus and Caspian basin and drew a wide response in the international arena. Azerbaijan with annually increasing incomes by 10% is a space, where different cultures unite.”

“Balance is kept in all fields of life, the right and multi-vector development. This succession is being demonstrated in the capital of Azerbaijan – Baku – center of the international dialogue.
The Heydar Aliyev Foundation is in Baku, which actively supports projects in culture, education, science, technology, ecology and sports. The Foundation functions at the national and international level. Currently, the Foundation`s branches are in Russia, USA, Turkey and Romania. Their aims are to find a common in different cultures, provide co-existence in a period of globalization. Azerbaijan locates in geostrategic space, where different world-views and mode of life, different cultural and religious interests are intercrossed and harmony of the Eastern and Westerns cultures is being observed.

The article stressed significance of the humanitarian projects, which the Heydar Aliyev Foundation declared its priority in mutual understanding between the countries and nations and keeping cultural heritage. “The projects are being realized in France, Italy and other foreign countries. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s projects do good to not only for Azerbaijanis but also for nations living in Europe and the East. The Foundation, as non -governmental organization carries out charitable actions such as construction of the kindergartens and implements other important projects.

“At the forums organized jointly with the UN, Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other authoritative organizations, the Foundation gained great achievements in elimination of illiteracy, gender equality, protection of children rights, elimination of race and religious discrimination, development of humanitarian dialogue, multiculturalism and tolerance.”
The publication cites the thoughts of Azerbaijan`s first lady, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva: “The biggest challenge the today`s world faces – falsification of the intellectual values and their substitution by the ideas have no some values”.

“The secular state was established in the Islamic country – Azerbaijan, where international relations widen. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation supports the educational programs of UNESCO. The Foundation implements project “New school for renewed Azerbaijan” and about 300 schools equipped with up-to-date technology were built over the last years. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation restored traditions of charity in Azerbaijan during the first oil boom and Baku architecture was modernized out of all recognition.

“There is no doubt that currently Azerbaijan, which is located in the South Caucasus, ashore of the Caspian Sea is at the stage of development. As always, owing to the amicability, preservation of the cultural heritage, perfect harmony of antiquity and modernity, Azerbaijan moves to a new peak of its creation.”
