Azerbaijani FM meets Iranian minister

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received on Thursday Iranian Minister of Education Hamid-Reza Haji Babaee, MFA told Trend.

At the meeting the sides exchanged views on the current state of relations between Azerbaijan and Iran and on the processes occurring in the region.

Mammadyarov said given a common culture, history and neighborly relations between the two countries, the contradictions that arise between Azerbaijan and Iran do not correspond to the bilateral relations.

The Minister stressed that the detention of two young poets, who are citizens of Azerbaijan, in Iran creates a serious concern in the society of the country, and demanded to create the conditions for a meeting of representatives of Azerbaijani consulate with these individuals.

Mammadyarov asked the Iranian minister to bring to the Iranian leadership's notice a serious concern of the Azerbaijani government on this issue.
