Australia interested in developing relations with Azerbaijan

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has received a delegation headed by Australian Prime Minister's special representative for Eastern Europe, the Balkans and Caucasus Russell Trood, the foreign ministry told Trend on Friday.

Mammadyarov has greeted the Australian guests and expressed his hope that this visit will promote the relations between the two countries.

Trood highlighted Azerbaijan's geopolitical importance.

He stressed that Australia is interested in developing the bilateral relations with Azerbaijan.

The great potential for expanding the cooperation between the two countries was stressed at the meeting. The prospects of cooperation within international organizations were discussed.

Azerbaijan's and Australia's contribution to peacekeeping operations was stressed.
