
“Azerbaijan doesn’t intend to abandon the usage of AK-74 automatic submachine gun and plans to produce “Kalashnikov” by the end of the year,” said Minister of Defense Industry Yaver Jamalov while commenting the reports refusal of Azerbaijan from Kalashnikov submachine guns in favor of “Tavor”.
The minister said that the Ministry of Defense Industry produces 665 types of products and this figure will increase to 700 by the end of the year.
“We have new projects, mainly related to the production of large-caliber ammunition, tanks, artillery and relevant ammunitions for helicopters.”
According to him, the Ministry of Defense Industry will hand over 60 drones to the Defense Ministry by late 2012.
