EU hails pardon decree in Azerbaijan

Catherine Ashton has made ??a statement regarding another pardon decree in Azerbaijan, the EU representative office in the country told Trend today.

"I heartily appreciate releasing nine participants of the peace rally, arrested April 2, 2011," the statement said. "This step, taken by Azerbaijan, is aimed at restoring civil and political freedoms in the country, freedom of speech and freedom of assembly. It is worth
respect."

It is also stressed that the EU continues supporting Azerbaijan in these endeavors.
