'Beijing supports Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity'

Political consultations have been held between Azerbaijani and Chinese ministries of foreign affairs in Beijing.

Azerbaijan`s deputy foreign minister Khalaf Khalafov said at the consultations that relations between Azerbaijan and China were developing in all spheres. He said mutual political trust and friendship traditions had strengthened between the two countries. He underlined the importance of the fact that Azerbaijan and China support each-other on important issues.

The Azerbaijani diplomat briefed his Chinese counterpart on settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Khalafov said his country supports “One China” principle, adding Taiwan is an integral part of China.

Chinese vice foreign minister Cheng Guoping praised the accomplishments made in state building process in Azerbaijan over the past 20 years. He noted China regards Azerbaijan its real friend and reliable partner.

Guoping pointed out his country was ready to work with Azerbaijan to strengthen mutual political trust, increase cultural exchange and develop bilateral cooperation.
Touching upon the Nagorno Karabakh conflict Guoping said his country`s position on the issue remains unchanged. “Official Beijing supports Azerbaijan`s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
The sides also discussed bilateral relations, cooperation in various spheres and other issues of mutual interest.
