
Azerbaijan made a lot towards integration into Europe, said visiting editor in chief of Germany`s “Behorden Spiegel” newspaper Uwe Proll in the meeting with Azerbaijan`s Minister of Internal Affairs Ramil Usubov.
The aim of the visit is to discuss Azerbaijan`s participation in the 8th European Congress on civil defense and emergency management which will be held in Bonn in September.
Usubov recalled his participation in the 10th and 11th European Police Congresses in Berlin, and 7th Berlin security conference. He underlined importance of Statement of Joint Intent which was signed between the relevant Ministries of the two countries as part of his Germany visit.
The sides highlighted the assistance of German experts in bringing activity of police bodies in line with international standards, preparation of new laws highlighting human rights and freedoms.
Attending the meeting, former deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Germany, member of Board of the newspaper August Hanning pointed out importance of Azerbaijan as a country located close to the border of Europe. Hanning praised progress achieved to ensure security during the Eurovision song contest, and recalled his meeting with national leader Heydar Aliyev.
Uwe Proll provided information on the next Police Congress.
