Continued violation of the ceasefire by the Armenian side is an attempt to force Azerbaijan to join the Organisation of Collective Security Treaty and the Eurasian Union, member of the parliamentary security committee Zahid Oruj said at the meeting of the Parliament of Azerbaijan on Tuesday.
"Violations of the ceasefire during the visit of U.S. State Secretary Hillary Clinton are also contrary to U.S. interests, because in the case of a resumption of the Karabakh war, it will negatively affect U.S. oil interests and stability in the region will be threatened.
"Undoubtedly, this is contrary to the interests of the United States and Europe as well as Azerbaijan's interests. Therefore, they shouldn't limit political statements. The sharp international reaction on Armenian provocation should follow, the same as on the crisis in Syria," Oruj stressed. He believes that, given recent events, the international community must speak out in defence of Azerbaijan.
"In particular, military consultations between Azerbaijan and Turkey should begin, and measures in the military sphere should be taken," he added.
