Azerbaijan will continue working closely with the U.S. in the field of improvement of democratic values, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said at the joint briefing with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on the results of her visit to Baku, which was held at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport.

"Azerbaijan is a young state, which is firmly on the position of the strengthening of democratic values ??in the country and is ready to make every effort to develop a civilized, developed civil society in the country," Mammadyarov said.

The main issues during talks with U.S. Secretary of State were issues of security, energy and democratic processes, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said at a briefing.

"A separate subject in the talks was the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," the Minister said.

The Azerbaijani side explained its position on the resolution of the conflict, which lies in the fact that the current situation can not last long, Mammadyarov said.

We rely on an active U.S. role in this matter, the minister added.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made a visit to Azerbaijan on June 6, during which she held talks with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and met with representatives of civil society. The visit to Azerbaijan was held in the frame of U.S. Secretary visit to the South Caucasus.
