Hillary Clinton mulls economic issues in Baku

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met with representatives of civil society during the visit to Azerbaijan.

Social and economic issues were discussed during the meeting, Head of the Center for Economic and Social Development Vugar Bayramov, participating in the event, told Trend.
In addition ways of establishing relations between government and civil society, progress, problems and the role of civil society in addressing the problems were also discussed at the meeting.

Members of civil society, acting having a transparent position, as well as members with expertise in this area were invited to the meeting, Director of Public Finance Monitoring Center Inglab Ahmedov told Trend.

"It is possible to come to the conclusion that our main discussions were conducted in the direction, which was mentioned above, and in the direction of achievements made by Azerbaijan, including the initiatives of transparency in Azerbaijan's participation in the partnership initiative Open Government and the potential of civil society in Azerbaijan, the possibilities of participation and future challenges associated with it," Ahmedov said.

The meeting was attended by a representative of Open Society Institute Fidan Bagirova and Executive Director of Transparency Azerbaijan Rena Safaralieva.
