'OIC condemns aggression against Azerbaijan'

Speaker of Azerbaijan Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov has met Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu.

Asadov said development of relations with OIC was one of the priorities of Azerbaijan`s foreign policy. “We know that OIC supports Azerbaijan`s just position. The support given to us by OIC member states when a document on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was adopted at the 62nd session of the UN proves this.”

Asadov also highly appreciated the support given by the OIC to Azerbaijan within the framework of the Justice for Khojaly campaign.

The Speaker pointed out Azerbaijan`s first lady, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, MP Mehriban Aliyeva was granted the title of ISESCO`s goodwill ambassador for her contributions to inter-civilization dialogue. “This gave a new impetus to development of our relations.”
Asadov also said “Milli Majlis tries to strengthen these relations and supports decisions and resolutions adopted by OIC.”

Ihsanoglu, in turn, praised relations between Azerbaijan and OIC, underlining the role of President Ilham Aliyev in development of them. He also noted the active participation of Azerbaijani delegation in OIC contributes to comprehensive development of these relations.

The Secretary General said OIC condemns the aggression against Azerbaijan and would always support the coutnry`s just position on the Nagorno-Karabakh problem.
