Azerbaijan's Republic Day marked abroad

The 94th anniversary of the establishment of Azerbaijani Democratic Republic was celebrated in foreign countries.

An event was organized in Monterey, California, US on occasion of 28 May- the Republic Day.
The event was attended by members of the Monterey City Council, journalists, representatives of Azerbaijani, Turkish, Jewish and other communities and local society. Addressing the event, Monterey Mayor Chuck Della Salla said that California`s Monterey and Azerbaijan`s Lankaran cities become sister cities in 2011.

Congressman Sam Farr noted that Azerbaijan is an important partner of US stressing the development of the bilateral strategic cooperation between the two countries.

Consul General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles Nasimi Agayev updated participants on the history of 28 May- the Republic Day, rapidly development of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan-US relationship.
Azerbaijani diplomat was presented Monterey City Council`s declaration on occasion of the Republic Day and congratulation statement by Bill Monning, member of California State Assembly.

Monterey city announced 28 May “Azerbaijan`s National Day”.

Azerbaijani Embassy in Korea has organized a celebrative event dedicated to the 94th anniversary of Azerbaijani Democratic Republic in Millennium Seoul Hotel.

The event brought together Yoon Jong Soo, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Environment, employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, representatives of governmental and private companies, head of diplomatic corps, mass media and Azerbaijanis living in Korea.
Azerbaijani ambassador to Korea Rovshan Jamshidov provided information on the history and activity of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

Touching upon the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Korea, Rovshan Jamshidov noted the significance of the boosting of cooperation in all fields.

The diplomat also emphasized the negative results of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Yoon Jong-Soo congratulated Azerbaijani government and people on behalf of Korean government on the Republic Day.

The deputy minister praised progress achieved in Azerbaijan in last years.
Videos on Azerbaijani history, economy, tourism opportunities, culture and art were demonstrated in the event.

Azerbaijani Embassy in the South African Republic has held an event on 28 May-Republic Day for the first time in the Pretoria.

Representative of diplomatic corps, state and governmental officials, members of Azerbaijani and Turkish communities, local mass media and businessmen were among the attendees.
Azerbaijani ambassador Elkhan Polukhov informed participators on the Republic Day.

Elkhan Polukhov also noted that 2012 marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and the South African Republic.Tseliso Maqubela, deputy director general at the energy department congratulated Azerbaijani nation on 28 May- the Republic Day.

She underlined that the opening of Azerbaijan Embassy in the South African Republic would contribute development of the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Azerbaijani Embassy in Argentina has organized an official reception marking 28 May- the Republic Day.

Argentine officials, including Tourism Minister Enrique Meyer, Foreign Trade Secretary Beatriz Paglieri, Agriculture Secretary Lorenzo Basso, Senator Daniel Filmus, Deputy Guillermo Carmona, representatives of diplomatic corps accredited to the country, politicians, journalists and others participated in the event.

Participators were informed on 28 May- the Republic Day of Azerbaijan, the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict by Ambassador Mammad Ahmadzade.

Azerbaijani diplomat also noted Azerbaijan`s highly organization of Eurovision 2012.
Mammad Ahmadzade highlighted the relationship existing between Azerbaijan and Argentina.
He also gave information on Argentine Interior Trade Secretary Guillermo Moreno`s visit to Azerbaijan in July.

The ceremony also featured concert and demonstration of videos on Eurovision 2012 and must-see-places of Baku.
