'Many forces do not want to see Azerbaijan as strong state'

01 June 2012 [10:28] - TODAY.AZ
Pressure exerted on Azerbaijan is due to both the Eurovision song contest and the success and development of our country, Azerbaijani MP Siyavush Novruzov told the ruling New Azerbaijan Party's official website.

"Many forces do not want to see Azerbaijan as a strong state. They want Azerbaijan to be a small and weak state and to accept all their conditions. In a short time, Azerbaijan has done great things, made significant achievements. In all corners of our country construction work is carried out. Naturally, Europe and Iran, and Armenia see all this. Pressure is exerted on Azerbaijan because the country's oil revenue is spent on the interests of the population, the social welfare of the country, are transformed into human capital," he said.

Novruzov said Eurovision 2012song contest was held at a high level, despite the fact that many forces didn't want that.

The deputy noted that the most important thing people's support for Eurovision.

"That is, support of our people, and not of any state is important for us. Today the Azerbaijani people feel a sense of pride that such a grand event took place. During the event, which is very important, the materials of Azerbaijan, Karabakh and other regions of the country were presented. Promotion of the country, which will take place over decades, was implemented during this event. People in nearly 50 countries were able to watch live the contest, as well as propaganda of Azerbaijan. What forces do not want this propaganda? Of course, Armenia, Iran, certain foreign forces and their "fifth columns" in Azerbaijan," he said.
