Azerbaijan, Serbia eye security cooperation

Over the past three years in Azerbaijan no crimes were committed by and against the citizens of Serbia, Interior Minister of Azerbaijan Ramil Usubov said at a meeting with Serbian ambassador to Azerbaijan Zoran Vajovic, the press service of the Ministry of Interior told Trend on Thursday.

Noting the expansion of ties between the two countries in recent years, the minister said that the mutual visits of heads of two states and the documents signed at a high level give impetus to the further deepening of cooperation. Usubov expressed his hope that relations between the two countries will grow at even more intense pace.

The minister congratulated the ambassador on the fact that the Serbian representative at the Eurovision 2012 international song contest held this month in Baku, has successfully performed, taking third place.

Also during the meeting it was stressed that an efficient struggle against drug trafficking, which is one of the major organized crimes and fight against international terrorism, human trafficking and illegal migration is possible only through joint efforts.

Usubov briefed Vajovic of areas of activity and functional tasks of the Interior Ministry of Azerbaijan.

The minister stressed that Azerbaijan integrates into Europe, adopts new laws based on democratic principles, adding that much of the credit belongs to those skilled specialists of the developed countries and international organizations.

Ambassador Zoran Vajovic, on his part, expressed his gratitude for the organization in Baku at a high level of Eurovision 2012 international song contest and for ensuring security during the contest at a high level.

The ambassador noted that he feels very comfortable and safe in Azerbaijan, adding that during his mission in the country he will make every effort to strengthen relations between the two countries.
