Azerbaijani youth mark Republic Day in Tashkent

Azerbaijani Embassy to Uzbekistan organized a festive event on the Republic Day for the Azerbaijani youth of Tashkent and Azerbaijani students studying at Tashkent universities, the Azerbaijani embassy told Trend on Wednesday.

Flowers were laid at the bust of National Leader of Azerbaijani people in the Azerbaijani cultural center named after Heydar Aliyev, where the event was held.

Then the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan were performed.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Uzbekistan Namig Abbasov addressed the audience. He congratulated the youth on the Republic Day and spoke about the achievements of Azerbaijan during independence.

The event continued by festive refreshments and a concert program, which began with a song that brought victory to Azerbaijan in the Eurovision 2011contest and allowed the country to host Eurovision 2012.

The concert program also included folk and contemporary tunes and songs, and 'Azerbaijan gyzlary' (Azerbaijani girls) dance ensemble under the direction of Honored Artist of Azerbaijan, Kekyab Alieva performed Azerbaijani folk dances.

Students of Mirabad academic lyceum, which has fruitfully cooperated for a long time with the Embassy, presented a program of the Uzbek national songs and dances.

The holiday ended with disco, consisting of the numbers of modern Azerbaijani, Uzbek and Turkish variety.
