'Moscow welcomes Azerbaijan’s investments in economy of Russia’s south'

Trade and economic relations are the best part of the Russian-Azerbaijani relations. The statement was made by Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladimir Dorokhin at the ceremony of Progress Award, which recognizes great contributions to the economic and trade relations between Russia and Azerbaijan in 2011.

"Our award is called “Progress", and, indeed, I am very pleased to say that each time it recognizes actual progress in our relations. In general, up to 2011 the award could be called "Triumph", based on our great achievements and record levels of trade and economic relations between Russia and Azerbaijan," said the diplomat.

The ambassador stressed good level of relations between the two countries in economic area: "Every year we have new areas and participants of economic cooperation. New companies enter the Azerbaijani market. This year, Russia for the first time offers services in the field of medicine. We are very pleased to see developing regional cooperation and increasing amounts of Azerbaijani investments in Russia. I heard that Azerbaijan has already invested 500 million US dollars in the Russian economy. I do not know whether this figure is correct, but it is already fact that the Azerbaijani capital appeared in Russia’s south region. We do welcome this and want to support the courage and the willingness of Azerbaijani businessmen to take risks," Dorokhin said.

"All will benefit from economic and trade relations between our countries. Business people are making money; the state budget receives tax deductions, while people get opportunity to work, to receive a stable income. Well, we, politicians, as they say, are counting political gains, because it is the basis for strengthening Russian-Azerbaijani relations," said Russian ambassador.
