Azebaijan`s Republic Day marked in Astana

Azerbaijani embassy in Astana has organized a solemn event on “28 May- Republic Day of Azerbaijan” and the 20th anniversary of establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries at Diplomat Hotel of Kazakhstan.

The event brought together Kazakhstan`s officials, deputies, members of the Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Friendship Group, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps in Kazakhstan, members of diasporas, cultural workers, Azerbaijani students and the media.

Addressing the event, Azeri ambassador Zakir Hashimov spoke about establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR), the first democratic republic in the Muslim East, as well as the founding of the modern and independent Azerbaijani state.

He praised the role leaders Heydar Aliyev and Nursultan Nazarbayevin bringing the Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan relations to the highest level. The ambassador added President Ilham Aliyev successfully continues this policy.

Hashimov also highlighted Azerbaijan`s latest achievements, including the country´s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. Kazakh deputy FM Amangeldi Zhumabayev touched upon Azerbaijan- Kazakhstan relations, saying both countries achieved huge successes after gaining independence. Compositions by prominent Azerbaijani composer Gara Garayev were performed during the event.
