26 May 2012 [21:42] - TODAY.AZ
Ireland`s “The Irish Times” newspaper has published an article on Baku as Azerbaijan is preparing to host the Eurovision song contest`s grand final.

Entitled “East meets West”, the article says: “Now Azerbaijan runs its own affairs and is using its oil riches to build spectacular new buildings in illuminated waves of glass, steel and stone. Fresh landmarks appear almost monthly”. “One of the new spikes in the skyline is the Crystal Hall, which today will be the venue for the Eurovision Song Contest. The locals are looking forward to an influx of visitors to what they proudly call “the easternmost city of Europe and the westernmost city of Asia”.

The article informs the readers on Baku boulevard, Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall, National Art Museum, as well as Baku’s UNESCO-listed Shirvanshah Palace, mosques, mausoleums, Maiden Tower and other places of interest.
