The resolution on the human rights in Azerbaijan adopted by the European Parliament is a thoughtless, wrong and unjust decision, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokesman Elman Abdullayev said at a press briefing today.
"Such a document adopted by a small number of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) during Eurovision song contest in the country without thorough examination of the situation in Azerbaijan is a blow to the image and the neutrality of this institution," Abdullayev said.
The European Parliament adopted a resolution on the human rights in Azerbaijan on May 24.
The resolution calls on the Azerbaijani government to allow conducting peaceful rallies.
The resolution also condemns radical Islamists' threats against participants and spectators of Eurovision 2012 song contest.
