OSCE, GUAM mull coop

The chairman of the GUAM Organization for Democracy and Economic Development Valeri Chechelashvili has visited Vienne to attend OSCE Permanent Council on the sidelines of Azerbaijan’s initiative for the development of GUAM-OSCE relations.

The chairman told about the GUAM’s formation process and the history of transformation of the organization, the Secretariat operating in Kiev and the development of transport corridors of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine on the sidelines of GUAM, creation of a free trade zone and specific projects carried out in the field of terrorism and organized crime.

Chechelashvili also has touched upon the relations of GUAM with the partners as US and Japan on GUAM. Permanent Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the OSCE G. Israfilov has made a statement on behalf of the state.

“GUAM member-states have combined around the purposes based on adherence to the norms and principles of international law and good-neighborly relations” the Ambassador said.
The chairman of GUAM has also met with the OSCE Secretary’s General L.Zannier and other officials of the organization and discussed the prospects of cooperation.

Chechelashvili has also attended the event co-organized by Azerbaijan’s Embassy and Diplomatic Academy of Vienna and made a speech in front of the students and international experts on “GUAM’s contribution to regional cooperation and stability.”
