'Azerbaijan can serve as model for countries passed through "Arab spring" '

Azerbaijan can serve as a model for the countries that have passed through the "Arab spring". The statement was made by U.S. congressman Gerry Connolly, AzerTAc reports. The congressman said that analyzing the events taking place in Syria, he searched for a model in this region, and found the Azerbaijani and Turkish models.

These models respect the diversity in their communities and seek to establish secular institutions of governance. At the same time these countries deeply respect religious freedom.

The congressman stressed that the U.S. Congress appreciates the developing relations between Azerbaijan and the United States, and Azerbaijan’s support in matters of Afghanistan International Security Assistance Force and the armed units of the United States in the region.
