Conference held on Azerbaijan-Egypt relations

A conference called “The 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Egypt: achievement and prospects” was held in Al-Azhar University, Egypt.
Addressing the event, Azerbaijani ambassador Shahin Abdullayev updated participants on Azerbaijan relations with Arabic-Islamic world. Shahin Abdullayev touched upon political and economic achievements of Azerbaijan, oil-gas strategy, irreplaceable role of national leader Heydar Aliyev in the Azerbaijan`s development, the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict and its discord and plundering of tangible cultural monuments, especially religious ones in the country`s occupied territories, as well as in Shusha town.

Mr. Abdullayev underlined that more than 40 agreements had been signed between Azerbaijan and Egypt in the past 20 years, noting organization of intensive reciprocal visits and boosting of relations in the fields of oil, agriculture, education, tourism, information technologies and culture.

The event saw reports by member of Azerbaijani community in Egypt and researcher Seymur Nasirov, professor Said Atiya, Doctor Hazem Said, deputy editor in chief of newspaper Al-Masaya Muhammad Salam.

Conference participants watched a film on prosperity of Azerbaijan in political, economic, social and cultural spheres and the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict in the Arabian language.
