Azerbaijani ambassador named “Diplomat of the Year”

Traditional Awarding Ceremony of the annual “Diplomat” magazine published in the UK was held yesterday. In the category of “Eurasia”, Azerbaijani Ambassador Fakhraddin Gurbanov was awarded the title of the “Diplomat of the Year”.

Presenting the award to the Azerbaijani diplomat, publisher of the magazine Hugo van Kuffeler underlined Azerbaijan’s diplomatic achievements have been increased in international arena over the years.

“Azerbaijan will host “The Eurovision Song Contest” on May of this year and from the beginning of the year, has begun its activity as a non-permanent member of UN Security Council and has increased its role in international affairs. The 20th anniversary of creating diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and the Great Britain is marked this year. For this period, the relations between the two countries have been increasing dayby day” said Hugo van Kuffeler. He also stressed ambassador Gurbanov has made a great contribution to the development of cooperation between the countries and popularizing realities of Azerbaijan in the UK.

Gurbanov noted that such Award gives him a feeling of great pride, and thanked the jury.
The ambassador also told about the achievements of Azerbaijani Diplomacy. Along with the Azerbaijani Ambassador, 11 countries’ diplomats also were awarded.
