Azerbaijani MP meets Moroccan FM

Azerbaijani MP and member of the country`s delegation to the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) Ganira Pashayeva has met Morocco’s Foreign Minister Saad-Eddine Al-Othman on the sidelines of the Assembly`s spring session.

Pashayeva said parliamentarians praised Al-Othman`s speech at the session. She noted Azerbaijan was always happy with Morocco’s successes, and supports the development of relations between Morocco and the Council of Europe.

“Azerbaijan attaches a particular emphasis to cooperation with Morocco in all spheres.”
Pashayeva highlighted the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, in particular Armenia`s occupation of 20 per cent of Azerbaijan`s lands.

She expressed hope Morocco would support Azerbaijan’s stance o the dispute.
The MP invited the Moroccan Foreign Minister to visit Azerbaijan. Al-Othman underlined the importance of developing the two countries` relations. The Foreign Minister described Azerbaijan as a friend of Morocco.

He emphasized the significance of a meeting of a joint intergovernmental commission due to be held in Baku in coming months. The FM also touched upon the importance of mutual support between the countries, and stressed the necessity of expanding and developing the cooperation within PACE. Al-Othman said he would visit Azerbaijan soon.
