Position that the leading European and U.S. media outlets showed in respect of the Formula One motor race held in Bahrain, at least, is surprising. It is unclear how the one-day motor race could worsen the socio-economic state of the people here.
Bahrain and Azerbaijan have a special importance for Iran. The Islamic Republic has repeatedly tried to adjust both countries’ territories to its. The strengthening of the international image of Azerbaijan and Bahrain weakens Iran’s "creeping occupation" policy that it pursues towards these countries. Therefore, now Iran uses the Western structures to damage the international image of the two countries.
Iran has been working to set the people against the authorities beginning from late 2010 in Azerbaijan and from February 2011 in Bahrain. Bahrain was forced to carry out international –scale activities to stabilize the situation within the country following Iran’s destabilization activity.
Azerbaijan and Bahrain already left Iran behind over their socio-economic development. Bahrain’s share of GDP per capita exceeds Iran’s index by three times. Azerbaijan has also recently started to build its economy, and its share of GDP per capita already exceeded Iran’s. But, GDP per capita has decreased in Bahrain in 2011 due to the unrests organized by Iran.
Surely, Azerbaijan and Bahrain record human rights violations, but it is inappropriate to compare the violations with the ones in Iran. If one looks through the prism of human rights situation in Iran, then Azerbaijan can be named Europe. Moreover, there is no need to investigate human rights violations in Iran, as the country lacks any ‘human rights’.
Bahrain and Azerbaijan need to coordinate the activities with a view to neutralize the impact of Iran’s destructive activities. Also, Bahrain’s Shiites should recognize the essence of the support for Shiites by Iran that backs the Azerbaijani lands’ occupation by Armenia.
The leading Western media agencies ("CNN", "New York Times", "Der Spiegel", "Guardian", etc.), as well as the "Human Rights Watch", spread the articles related to the developments in Bahrain over Iran’s order. Moreover, these agencies did not make even small changes in the text of the articles that were prepared in Iran.
The Western media approached Baku’s hosting the Eurovision 2012 Song Contest from the same position. Iran and the western media agencies and human rights organization repeat each other when covering this issue. The only difference is that Iran was able to attract the Armenian diaspora in Iran to this anti-Azerbaijan campaign.
Bahrain last year started to take international-scale steps to rebuild its damaged image. The young, but strong Azerbaijani government was also forced to take relevant steps and organize the international events and contest such as the Eurovision show. The holding of the Eurovision show is not aimed to promote the Azerbaijani government, but to promote the rich culture and history of Azerbaijan, and its people. And of course, this dissatisfies Iran.
Iran subjected its population to social-economic challenges and the prices go higher and higher in the country. Tehran allocates funds to the international media outlets and human rights organizations, instead of improving the welfare of its people. And the westerns media, on one hand accuse Iran of sponsoring the terror organizations, an on other hand receive money from Iran.
The Western governments should control its media outlets, international non-governmental organizations operating in their countries, as well as the relations between Iran and the international human rights organizations. According to some sources, some MPs in the United Sates and Europe receive funds from Iran through Armenians.
