Azeri ambassador presents credentials to Afghan President

Azerbaijan`s ambassador to Afghanistan Dashgin Shikarov has presented his credentials to President Hamid Karzai.

The Azeri diplomat conveyed President Ilham Aliyev`s greetings to the Afghan leader.
On behalf of the country`s leadership, Shikarov invited President Karzai to attend a summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Baku in October, 2012.

The ambassador briefed the President on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, socio-economic reforms in the country, the activity of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and humanitarian projects initiated by Azerbaijan`s first lady Mehriban Aliyeva.

President Hamid Karzai asked the ambassador to pass on his greetings to the Azerbaijani leader. The Afghan President accepted the invitation to attend the ECO summit in Baku.
Hamid Karzai said Afghanistan had always supported Azerbaijan`s fair stance on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Shikarov also met with the Azerbaijani peacekeeping contingent in Afghanistan and visited Avicenna orphanage in Kabul.
