Azerbaijani President holds series of meetings - UPDATE - PHOTOS

President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan on Wednesday received delegation led by Vladimir Litvin, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Ukrainian parliament). The Head of State said bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine develop successfully and the cooperation between two countries yields good results.

There is a huge potential for the expansion of bilateral ties in economic area, the Azerbaijani President said. The Azerbaijani President said the country’s parliamentary delegation is actively involved in various international structures, including the Council of Europe.

President Ilham Aliyev stressed the importance of the Baku-hosted second plenary session of Euronest Parliamentary Assembly. The President also emphasized the successful collaboration between the two countries’ Parliaments as part of the Eastern Partnership program and its contribution to the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine.

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Vladimir Litvin, in turn, said Ukraine is interested in the expansion of cooperation between two countries in various areas. He said both Azerbaijan and Ukraine have good potential for the development of inter-parliamentary ties.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received Director-General of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Jose Graziano da Silva and his accompanying delegation.

The Head of State expressed satisfaction with successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and FAO, and described Baku`s hosting the 28th European Regional Conference of the FAO as a `good` sign of this cooperation. President Ilham Aliyev expressed assurance that the conference would be `successful`, and provide a `good` opportunity for becoming familiar with Azerbaijan.

In turn, FAO Director-General described high-level representation of 46 region states at the conference as an indicator of the great interest to the event. According to him, one of the main goals of the event is to outline agricultural development priorities. Jose Graziano da Silva underlined that ministerial round-table within the conference will also discuss “food security” issues. The FAO official congratulated Azerbaijan on its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
