UNIDO regional conference in due Baku

A two-day regional conference on industrial parks of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has today started here.

The aim of the event is creation of industrial parks in Europe and Central Asia, investment promotion and competitiveness, elimination of gaps and exchange of experience in this field.
The conference brought together representatives from Albania, Belarus, Georgia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Serbia, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Ukraine.

The conference is held with support of UNIDO, the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Industry and Energy of Azerbaijan and the Government of Slovenia.

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), is a specialized agency in the United Nations system, headquartered in Vienna, Austria. Presently, 173 states are members of UNIDO. The organization employs some 650 staff at Headquarters and in field representations in about 80 countries, and draws on the services of some 2,800 international and national experts, who work in project assignments throughout the world. In 2007, UNIDO had around 850 technical cooperation projects in around 120 countries.

The Organization therefore works towards improving the quality of life of the world`s poor by drawing on its combined global resources and expertise in the following three interrelated thematic areas: poverty reduction through productive activities; trade capacity-building; and energy and environment.
