Azerbaijani diplomats’ families evacuated from Syria

The families of Azerbaijani diplomats in Syria were evacuated from Damascus for their security and returned home, spokesman for the Azerbaijan’s Foreign Affairs Ministry Elman Abdullayev told journalists.

He said there has been no decision to evacuate the embassy workers yet and the embassy’s full staff is working within normal schedule.

Abdullayev said the embassy registered about 60 Azerbaijani students studying in Syria and about 30 of them are still staying there. “The embassy has regular contact with them and recommended the students to leave the country and not to return until restoration of stability in Syria”.
