China seeks to develop relations with Azerbaijan

The roundtable “Azerbaijan-China relations: modernity and prospects” was held here on Thursday at the Public Administration Academy to mark the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Azerbaijan.

Rector of the academy Urkhan Alakbarov noted China was one of the first countries to recognize independence of Azerbaijan.

China backs Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity and sovereignty while Azerbaijan supports the One-China policy.

Speaking to the event, Chinese ambassador to Azerbaijan Hong Jiuyin touched upon celebration of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations. He went on to say that China puts special emphasis on development of relationship with Azerbaijan.

China recognized independence of Azerbaijan on December 27, 1991 and the two countries established diplomatic relations on April 2, 1992.

The event saw presentations on Azerbaijan-China cooperation in training of servants, Azerbaijan-China cooperation and mechanisms of its realization, dynamics of Azerbaijan-China trade relations etc.

Chinese ambassador to Azerbaijan Hong Tsuin has expressed his country`s readiness to develop relations with Azerbaijan. “The government of China is keen to develop and strengthen its relationship with Azerbaijan,” he told an AzerTAc correspondent.

“On April 2, 2012, we marked the 20th anniversary of the founding of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and China.”

“The relations between the two countries have been rapidly developing recently. The Chinese government attaches great importance to strengthen relations and cooperation with Azerbaijan,” said the ambassador.

“There are good prospects to develop the bilateral cooperation not only in the political area, but also in the fields of economy and trade,” Tsuin added.
